As of this week, reef keepers in the United States can now have their water tested at a new TRITON Lab located at Unique Corals in Los Angeles. The company claims that results can be received within 48 hours of samples being received at the new facility. In the past US customers had to wait much longer since water samples had to travel to Germany. Along with rapid results and recommendations, all samples will now ship FREE back to the TRITON US Lab via USPS. A first class return postage label will be included in every testing kit.
TRITON ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometry) testing is done using plasma that is heated to 10,000 degrees Kelvin and will literally rip molecules apart giving the most accurate saltwater aquarium test results available. Traditionally most testing on reef tanks is done with hobby grade, low-cost test kits, that are notorious for being inaccurate and hard to discern. Triton testing gives you precise views into 36 different elements that are very important to overall coral health and vitality. TRITON also sells additives that can be used to adjust different elements up or down based on the test results.

Personally, I do utilize TRITON for testing and it did help me avoid a tank crash a couple of years ago. If a tank is in crisis, it will certainly be beneficial to have results sooner rather than later.
